Physical activities prescribed by a health professional and designed to achieve therapeutic goals.
Exercise therapy has many benefits and can be used for a variety of reasons;
Exercise therapy is cost effective and can be carried out in numerous settings, such as at home or in the office (although you may receive some strange looks from colleagues!). Exercises can be carried out frequently and can fit around your schedule, this helping to maximise outcomes. Exercise therapy is a useful way to monitor and assess progress, for example if an exercise feels easier and is performed better, this may mean that you are improving! Finding the time to complete exercises and making sure you are doing them properly can be difficulty, my aim is not to ‘overload’ you with exercises but to provide a small amount of effective exercises that can be completed with confidence. Throughout treatment sessions you will be prescribed and taught appropriate, safe exercises with focus on technique which are specific to you. Exercises will be provided following thorough examination and will be continuously monitored and adapted throughout your rehabilitation. Exercises will be progressed/regressed depending on progress and can form an important part of overall treatment.
Exercises are used as both of Physiotherapy treatment and throughout Personal Training sessions, with sessions available in my clinic space, at your home or in the great outdoors of York.
Based at Clifton Moor, York, my clinic is accessible from the city and outer ring-road (A1237), appointments are available throughout the day, into the evenings and even on weekends, with home sessions and online physiotherapy available for these times of need.
